8th Grade Nationals

8th Grade Nationals

The Lady Panthers headed down to sunny Orlando, FL to participate in the 2015 8th Grade AAU National Championships. We took a mix of 6th, 7th and 8th graders down to see how the ladies fared on the big stage. From the opening ceremonies the ladies knew they would have to play hard as they seemingly walked through the land of giants. As normal fashion the Panthers team was a bit undersized compared to the majority of the teams there. It didn’t seem to worry them much because they know what they lack in height they certainly make up with heart and hustle. Opening ceremonies were awesome and were capped off by streamer cannons and some sweet dance moves by the Big Mouse On Campus, Mickey Mouse. The tournament started out with 3 pool play games to get bracket rankings. The ladies worked their way to a 2nd place rank in pool play. With the Panthers coming off a tough loss in their previous game it meant bad news for the South Georgia Angels. The ladies were back firing on all cylinders again and actually got up to a 26 point lead on the Angels at...
Panthers Play Hard

Panthers Play Hard

Panther players are making a big time impact this season in the high school basketball world. Although during the high school push for playoffs rivalries brew, the sisterhood within the Lady Panthers runs deep. Many of the ladies make it out to cheer on their AAU team mates and show support even in rival territory. With playoffs about to kick off there are a few Panthers you should be keeping an eye on. Sydney Fail playing with Garnet Valley has been a thorn in just about every opposing teams side the entire season. Her size and marksman shooting is a tough combo to defend. Her 3 point shooting was highlighted in an article from her game against Radnor. Sydney helped push GV to their second consecutive Central League Championship. After seeing  extended minutes when fellow teammate Kylie Young was injured helped cement her roll on the Varsity Squad. I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more of Syd as Garnet Valley is projected to go deep into the playoffs. Coatesville High plays host to a trio of talented young Panthers. Siani Brown, Dee Dee Irwin, and Brianna White have been working hard this season. They helped Coatesville finish just outside of the Chest-Mont final four. Hard work doesn’t go unnoticed though. They still have a chance to compete in the playoffs with a first round match up against Central Bucks South on Valentines day. I’m sure there will be no love shown as they fight to go deeper into the bracket. Returning players Kelly Basile and Mikayla Maxwell, along with newcomer Erin Weir certainly have something to cheer...
Head Start Gift Drive A Huge Success

Head Start Gift Drive A Huge Success

The holiday season is super busy for most people. The Lady Panthers took a break from the hustle and bustle to make the season a little brighter for some lucky young ladies with the help of the Chester County Head Start Program. The Lady Panthers teams hopped on the opportunity to help and sponsored 20 awesome girls. Hopefully they will become future Panthers and do the same for others. The collections came pouring in and turned an eight-seater van to a one person sleigh. The turn out was awesome. In fact when we went to drop off the haul, the ladies at the Head Start office had to call for backup to form an assembly line to get all the gifts upstairs to the drop off point. We almost ran out of room in the office, but I’m guessing that’s a good problem to have. Even though we just finished and Christmas hasn’t come yet, we are all anxious to do it all over again. I’ll even take the back ache of lugging all those gifts up the flight of steps. Especially the super sized gift Tara W. and her family provided. And yes Anne we re-wrapped it! Hopefully the girls are excited when they wake up Christmas morning and see all the awesome gifts their Secret Santa’s left them. Thank you to all the players, family, and friends that made this a super success. Hopefully we can all do it again next season. Happy Holidays from the Lady...

USBA Nationals Runner Up

USBA Nationals Runner Up

After a long season of hard work, dedication, practice, and improvement, your 9th Grade Lady Panthers leave Myrtle Beach as the USBA National Championship Runner Ups! They left everything on the court literally. Blood, Sweat, and Tears. The journey only starts here. Who’s ready for next season already? The Panthers started off the trip with a match up against their seemingly down south counterpart, the Down South Lady Panthers. With the game going neck and neck for the majority of the first and second half it seemed that it would come down to whoever had the ball last. That team ended up being the Down South Lady Panthers. With the game as close as 1 point within the last minutes it came down to foul shots. The Lady Panthers ended up falling in their first game by 5 points 42-47. The Panthers found their way back on track with their second game against the NC Lady Gems. The Lady Gems are an Adidas Elite team coming out of North Carolina. This was a team that was definitely not lacking in the size category. That size on the other hand may have been their downfall. They could not keep up with the speed and intense pressure defense of the Lady Panthers. Match that with some timely outside shooting the Panthers ran to a 49-24 victory. The next 2 games played out almost the same way in blowout fashion. The Panthers made easy work of the Lady Netters with an impressive 34 point victory, 57-23. That energy rolled right over to the next game against the Lady Bulldogs. Although they were...
